LAMA TENPA

Lama Tenpa was born in South Sikkim, India. At age 13 he began to study the Buddha Dharma and at age 15 received ordination from His Holiness the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa at Rumtek Monastery , Sikkim.

At Rumtek, he began his monastic training under the spiritual guidance of HH Karmapa and also his teacher, Umdze Namgang. At age 21, Lama Tenpa began the first of two three-year retreats under Bokar Rinpoche at Kalu Rinpoche's retreat center in Sonada, Darjeeling, India.

OLD RALANG MONASTERY

At age 25, Lama Tenpa entered a second three-year retreat at The Rumtek Karmapa Retreat center. Following the retreat, he was appointed Vajra Master of Karma Rabten Ling , the Old Ralang Monastery (built by 9th Karmapa) serving for seven years. In 1987, Rumtek Monastery sent Lama Tenpa to the Kagyu Center in Taipei, Taiwan to teach for three years. Since then he has been giving Buddhist teachings in both Taiwan and Sikkim .

In 2002, Lama Tenpa was invited by the Gan-Chang Vajrayana Buddhist Association in Taichung, Taiwan to serve as a religious teacher.

Currently, Lama Tenpa teaches in India, North America, and In Taiwan.
